Happy autumn! The official start of my favorite season has me jumping for joy…. and, quite frankly, so does September being over.
I’m starting to get into the swing of things with school and work but if we’re being honest, it’s been kicking my butt so far. It’s laughable to me now to think about all the times I complained during undergrad. Now that I’m working full time in an elementary school AND a full time grad student, “busy” doesn’t even begin to explain my life. I spend most of my evenings having mental breakdowns about homework and trying to stick to my self-imposed “bedtime.” I’m just trying to think of this as a transition period and I know things will get better once I get into a more stable routine.
I love the school where I work and being part of the school community. My students are awesome and I’ve been learning so much while observing and subbing in various classes around the elementary school. Plus, I’ve been working on my bulletin board skills. I know, guys, big things are happening. Though getting my master’s is a ridiculous amount of work and if I were to actually do all of my assigned reading I would never sleep, I am loving it. Quinnipiac’s Master of Arts in Teaching program is so supportive and I feel like I get so much out of each and every class.
On the plus side, it’s my favorite season! I have spent the past two fall semesters abroad so I’ve missed the most gorgeous season New England has to offer. I’ve already told Tommy that we are going to do “all of the fall things.” I can’t wait for sweaters and scarves and watercolor leaves and Thanksgiving…. and finally being in the same country as my boyfriend on his birthday. I’m excited for the months to come and all the memories to be made in our new home. Can’t believe we’ve already lived here for almost two months!! The place is really coming together; I’ll share soon!
I’ve been spending my commute to work and school discovering some new jams so check out September’s playlist HERE!
