Occasionally I think I romanticize traveling. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore trying to communicate in a different language or exploring a new city. However, it is not always rainbows and butterflies just because you are away from home on an adventure.
Often times you don’t hear about the difficult or not-so-fun parts, but it is inevitable. When you travel with a group, especially with your family, there will be conflicts. While getting used to different food, climates, and modes of transportation, you or your travel companions will get sick. Someone in your group will stress over plans, at times everyone will get cranky, and you may find yourself in situations that aren’t so comfortable. That doesn’t mean it needs to define your entire trip.
Despite a bit family drama and sickness, this trip was kind of a needed reminder for me that everything is what you make it.
