If you know my boyfriend and me, then you know that we love wine. It’s funny because I used to absolutely loathe wine and wonder why anyone would voluntarily drink it: proof that wine can be an acquired taste. Tommy’s father has a wine cellar and is super into the whole wine connoisseur life so once I met Tommy, I basically had to hop on board!
A few weekends ago when we were looking for something to do in the area, he found a vineyard on Trip Advisor so we decided to check it out! Turns out, we found a different vineyard on our way to the original one and decided to stop there. Gouveia Vineyards in Wallingford, CT is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. I truly felt as though I was back in Tuscany, Italy. It certainly helped that it was the most gorgeous Saturday possible; the place was packed with other wine lovers sharing picnics or having get togethers with friends. We decided on a glass of sangria- I’m a sucker for a homemade sangria- and a $10 wine tasting (which we have found to be the norm). The tasting even included an etched glass with the vineyard’s name, and afterwards we got to walk through the rows of grapes.
Tommy and I decided to go with it and tried out Paradise Hills Vineyard just down the road. It was a small, intimate setting and is unique because the vineyard is located literally at the end of a neighborhood. This vineyard is still pretty new, and opened in only 2012. Here we did another tasting and then bought a nice bottle for dinner.
