Our first class excursion that is built into our study abroad program was to a nearby town called Segovia. The whole time in my head I was singing “Genovia!!!!” from The Princess Diaries. We took a bus there and it was quite busy as Segovia is a popular tourist destination in Spain because of all its historical buildings. The entire city is actually a World Heritage City. As part of our course, we as students must research the town and sites we are visiting and act as tour guides. We visited the Catedral de Segovia, the Alcázar, Puenta de San Andrés, Iglesia de San Esteban, and the Acueducto de Segovia. We even got to eat lunch in the square and have some free time to walk the main street, Calle Real (aka Calle Juan Brava). It was a beautiful sunny day and after walking around the town (and up a zillion stairs in the Alcázar, I was wiped.
