aboutmdof

I’m Erin and I have a lot of things to say about a lot of things. I consider myself a jack of all trades. In fact, my friend

lovingly used the term “hobbyist” to describe me and I’ve been embracing my hobbyist tendencies ever since.

SO as you might imagine, this website contains a bit of everything (though I do focus mostly on travel tips, living a

vegan lifestyle, and teaching resources).

who-am-i_about

A twenty-two year old New England native and new college graduate! I adore manatees, a good list,

Girl Scout camp, dresses, vegan food, and speaking in Spanglish. I’m a sucker for an inspirational quote or a

nerdy pun, an advocate for body positivity, and feel at home in the candle section of any store.

I’m constantly searching for new ways to express myself and spread smiles. I dabble in songwriting, scrapbooking,
running, drone photography, crafting, recipe-creating, writing, (very) amateur GoPro filmmaking, the list goes on….
Traveling is one of my greatest passions so I feel incredibly blessed to have spent my college years gallivanting across
the globe disguised as this thing called “study abroad.” I’m back in the USA (for now) teaching at an elementary
school and pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching.

With a new chapter in life come a new endeavor! I got the name The Wanderess from a Halsey song
called “Hurricane.” You may also recognize this Roman Payne quote:
She was free in her wildness.
She was a wanderess, a drop of free water.
She belonged to no man and to no city
I couldn’t get the word out of my head and felt like it was a unique way to describe myself. To me, it’s not about
belonging to any person or city or stereotypical box you’re expected to fit into, but realizing that we are so much
more than that. Instead, it’s about marching to the beat of your own drum in an effort to find your place in this world.

That’s exactly what I’m doing: bit by bit discovering my place in this world. And my little corner of the
internet. Throughout the past few years, I have transformed my college study abroad blog from Erin Abroad
to Erin’s Adventures to a new and improved lifestyle WEBSITE, The Wanderess. Woohoo! I have my very
own .net…..How cool is that!? This is my space to chronicle my journey of creating happiness in everyday
life, while hopefully connecting with others along the way!

I take great care that what I put out there into the world is authentic and meant to radiate positive vibes toward
myself and others. It is important to me to try my best to live a compassionate life, which in my mind extends
not only to animals and other humans but also to our ourselves. I firmly believe that it’s possible for a person to be
both a work of art and work in progress simultaneously so I’m always willing to try something new, up for an
adventure, and am drawn to anything that makes me smile (okay, happy cry… ya caught me).

I’m just a girl trying to blaze my own trail while laughing at myself, knocking a bunch of things off my bucket list, reading shelves full of books, and leaving no dog unpet in the process! My hope for this little blog is that, just like my life, it will be an ever-evolving masterpiece. Thanks for joining me on my journey…. Don’t hesitate to say hi! 🙂
